'Lissadell is famous as the childhood home of Constance Markievicz, her sister Eva Gore-Booth and her brother Josslyn Gore-Booth. Constance was one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising, and was the first woman to be elected to Dáil Eireann...' (more information here).
This year was the perfect time to visit Lissadell as it is the 100th year anniversary of the 1916 Rising which is something I've been highly interested in since I learned about it in secondary school. The Goore-Booth house was so insightful to how Constance and her family lived.
The Gardens were SO pretty, as you can see from the pictures. It was such a lovely day and it was so nice to be out among the flowers.
I would highly recommend visiting Lissadell House and Gardens to anyone if you ever find yourself in Sligo as it was such a wonderful day out!
